Geneva Environment Network convenes

The Geneva Environment Network Secretariat is convening two events at the International Environment House during this busy week:

Videos and documents of past GEN events are available online.

UN Trade Forum convenes to tackle climate emergency

The climate crisis will be far-reaching for all people and nations, but small island development states are at the forefront of its impacts. It also stands to wipe out trade gains of these vulnerable islands if not addressed now.

This reality has brought the world’s island nations, the trade community, policy-makers, and the United Nations’ top agencies together for the first-ever United Nations Trade Forum slated for 9 to 13 September. #UNTradeForum

42nd session of the Human Rights Council

The UN Human Rights Council is holding its 42nd regular session from 9 to 27 September. Various side-events will discuss environmental-related issues. Check the list of events below.

On Monday 9 September the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights & Hazardous Substances & Wastes will present its latest report, including the 15 principles on protecting the human rights of workers from toxic substances. #HRC42

Alternatiba Leman Festival

You cannot miss it, as various posters and other supports around Geneva are announcing the 5th Alternativa Léman Festival. Declaring the urgency of climate change, the organizers invite you to participate in an event about local solutions for the environment: more than 50 conferences, film projections and free workshops will take place from Monday to Saturday at Uni Mail and Uni Bastions. 150 organizations will be at the Bastions Park on Saturday. #Altlem
