On the run-up to UNFCCC COP25

UNFCCC Secretariat announced on 1 November that COP 25 will now take place from 2-13 December in Madrid, as the original hosting agreement with Chile was cancelled. On the run-up to this major conference, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Center for International Environmental Law, EarthJustice and the Geneva Environment Network Secretariat are hosting an event reflecting on the importance of addressing human rights in climate action, including through the implementation of the Paris Agreement. It will illustrate the importance of a rights-based approach to climate change and climate action, with a focus on two specific themes: land and human mobility. Join us Tuesday 5 November, at 4.30pm at Palais des Nations, Room XXI. #ClimateRightsDialogues

This year, the fifth edition of the European Forest Week, focusing on 'Forests and the Circular Economy' is celebrated in Geneva in conjunction with Forêt2019, the Joint Session of the UNECE Committee on Forests and the Forest Industry (COFFI), and the FAO European Forestry Commission (EFC). Transforming the Global Plastics Economy

Monday 4 November, don't miss the launch of Transforming the Global Plastics Economy — a new collaborative project for research and policy dialogue hosted by the Graduate Institute’s Global Governance Centre on 'upstream' challenges related to plastic production and consumption, supported by the Swiss Network of International Studies (SNIS). The other project partners include the Graduate Institute Centre for Trade and Economic Integration and Centre for International Environmental Studies, UNCTAD, Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), HES-SSO and the University of Geneva.
